Handel + Haydn BICENTENNIAL

2017

BOSTON, MA

Musical Celebration

Handel + Haydn Society has been at the forefront of the HIP [Historically Informed Performance] movement for 200 years! To mark the Bicentennial Trace worked with H+H to design a fitting tribute in the Puvis de Chavannes Gallery at the Boston Public Library. Fifty feet of antique casework held the 200-year timeline along with historic artifacts and instruments. MIT coded the interactive media to work with the remarkable soundscape created by Kezia Seminster. In this interactive visitors were invited to play with the music by removing orchestral sections. Imagine the Brandenburg Concertos without the string section and you will understand their importance.
