Exhibition Design | Children’s Learning Environments | Collaborative Master Planning
In collaboration with the Boston Children’s Museum, TRACE Design Group was invited to design over 10,000 square feet of exhibition environments for Science City at Kansas City’s historic Union Station. The project translated Boston Children’s Museum’s deep institutional knowledge into a new regional context. TRACE developed concepts for three core exhibits: All Aboard (a train-based play experience), Playspace (early childhood learning), and Messy Arts (a maker-focused creative studio). Grounded in research and play-based best practices, the work resulted in a master plan that Science City used to realize a highly immersive, educational, and widely celebrated visitor experience.
