Exhibition Design | Interactive Interpretation | Audience Access
This retrospective exhibition presented the most comprehensive large-scale survey of artist Dorothy Hood’s work to date. Designed to make modern and abstract art accessible to broad audiences—including local oil rig workers and their families—the exhibition emphasized clarity, invitation, and engagement. TRACE Design Group organized the galleries as a narrative journey, using interactive elements to demystify abstraction. Visitors encountered immersive entry experiences, hands-on digital overlays exploring Hood’s techniques, and interpretive moments that connected process to perception. The exhibition welcomed first-time museum visitors while honoring artistic rigor. Winner of the AAM MUSE Award for Interpretive Interactive Installation.
