For the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, TRACE Design Group created a suite of indoor and outdoor exhibits exploring migration and flight. A kinetic installation used wind and water displacement to achieve neutral buoyancy, gently lifting visitors as they maneuvered large wings—transforming physics into lived experience. Sculptural aluminum flight rails translated the landing pattern of a red-tailed hawk into a tactile pathway, guiding the body through avian motion. Interpretive graphics connected these physical encounters to migratory research, education, and environmental policy—linking wonder, science, and stewardship.
